Peeling
Animation of a satellite photography, taken in the city of Baghdad, Iraq, in April 1, 2003, during the Operation Iraqui Freedom done by the U.S. The image shows the bomb damage from coalition air attacks. IKONOS Satellite imagery was used to support intelligence activities and military planning, among others. The word “peeling” is a metaphor of the beauty treatment that applies to the surface of the skin to retire the “dead cells”. This video was the starting point of my experimentations with Satellite Images and virtual landscapes.
